Save Tabs Extension ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle user data. Our core philosophy: private, local-only, and fully transparent.
1. Information We Collect
To provide core functionality (saving & organizing browser sessions), we handle the following data locally:
- Web Browsing Activity (URLs) – URLs of open tabs in your current window, collected only when you explicitly click the "Save" button.
- Browsing History (Search Queries) – We access your recent history to identify the last search query (from Google or Bing) to automatically name your saved session.
- User Preferences – Settings like theme colors, folder organization, and layout preferences.
2. How We Use Your Information
Information is used strictly for user-facing features and local operations:
- Create folders named after your search queries for contextual organization.
- Restore your saved tabs into a new browser window upon your request.
- Organize and group your sessions locally on your device, including color labeling and folder management.
No data is used for analytics, marketing, or any form of profiling.
3. Data Storage, Security & Interface Usage
All user data is stored exclusively on your device using the chrome.storage.local API. We do not utilize cloud sync, remote databases, or any external backup. You retain full control over your session data at all times.
The extension requests access to the browser side panel solely to facilitate the user interface. This allows you to manage saved sessions, toggle color labels, and organize folders without closing your current tab. All interactions within the side panel occur locally — no external scripts, no tracking, no transmission.
We do not transmit your data — including search queries, tab URLs, interface settings, or any metadata — to any external servers, third-party services, or analytics providers. Zero outbound requests. Your activity remains strictly private.
The handling of sensitive data (session structures, URLs, and preferences) follows modern cryptographic standards as required by Chrome Web Store policies, ensuring secure local storage and protection against unauthorized access.
4. Limited Use Disclosure
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
✅ Allowed Use: We only use your data to provide or improve the single purpose of the extension (context‑aware session management).
🔄 Allowed Transfer: We do not transfer user data to third parties unless it is necessary to provide or improve the single purpose, to comply with applicable laws, or for security purposes (such as investigating abuse).
🚫 Prohibited Advertising: We never use or transfer user data to serve personalized, re-targeted, or interest‑based advertisements.
👁️ Prohibited Human Interaction: We do not allow humans to read user data. Exceptions are only made if we obtain your explicit consent for a specific purpose (e.g., technical support), for security investigations, or to comply with legal obligations.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties. There is no interaction with external APIs, except for the local Chrome APIs required for the extension's core functionality. This also means we never integrate advertising networks, tracking pixels, or any analytics tools.
6. Your Rights: Data Access & Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full authority:
- Deletion: You can delete specific sessions or all data directly within the extension interface, or simply by uninstalling the extension from your browser — this instantly removes all stored data.
- Access: You can view all stored sessions, saved tab URLs, and preferences at any time inside the extension's dashboard or side panel interface.
No remote servers involved — you are the sole controller of your information.
